An iron testimonial for the Vigezzina-Centovalli Railway!

From sprint athletes to... athletes of steel: the collaboration between the Ferrovia Vigezzina-Centovalli and Locarno triathlete Adriano Engelhardt is on!

As of today, Locarno triathlete Adriano Engelhardt can count on a new partner: the Ferrovia Vigezzina-Centovalli! He is the third athlete in the relay started by Ajla Del Ponte in 2021 and continued last year with Ricky Petrucciani.

After two years marked by speed, 2023 will bind the Ferrovia Vigezzina-Centovalli to the concept of endurance. In fact, Adriano Engelhardt, a Triathlon specialist from Locarno, will receive the change in the relay of testimonials. Over the years, Engelhardt has become the jewel in the crown of Swiss Triathlon, thanks above all to an astonishing 2022 during which he achieved several outstanding results, including victory at the IronMan in Los Cabos, Mexico.

For Adriano, this partnership is of great value: 'I am very proud to be able to contribute to bringing the image of my region to the world. I am very attached to the Locarno region and to the Vigezzina-Centovalli railway, which has often accompanied me on my journeys to French-speaking Switzerland'.

Adriano's extensive calendar, which will take him to the four corners of the globe, will allow the Vigezzina-Centovalli Railway to better promote its breathtaking scenery. A great opportunity in the centenary year of the birth of the railway line connecting Locarno to Domodossola.

Great challenges ahead

Adriano Engelhardt's main goal is the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. But for the triathlon specialist, the ambition is also to confirm and improve on last season's excellent results. The year 2023 started as well as it could for the Locarno man, who managed to retouch his personal best in the 10 km road race in Payerne in 30'29.

There are also great challenges for the Ferrovia Vigezzina-Centovalli, busy with the adaptation of stations to the Disabled Persons Law, the construction of eight new trains and the numerous projects to celebrate its 100th anniversary. A whole year of celebrations will begin on 25 November.
