From 4 to 7 September 2026, Santa Maria Maggiore will host the traditional International Chimney Sweepers’ Gathering, one of the most renowned and charming events in the Vigezzo Valley. For four days, the picturesque village comes alive with parades, meetings, demonstrations and festive celebrations, attracting chimney sweeps from all over the world and transforming the streets into a vibrant spectacle of colours, music and tradition. Travel to the event aboard the Vigezzina-Centovalli Railway and enjoy a unique experience from the very beginning, crossing spectacular landscapes between Switzerland and Italy along one of Europe’s most scenic railway lines.
