The new Centovallina trains
Comfort, accessibility, and technology for our passengers
The Ferrovia Vigezzina-Centovalli has officially entered a new era of rail transport: since early June 2025, the new Stadler regional trains have been regularly operating on the Locarno–Camedo line.
By the end of summer 2025, the international trains will also progressively enter service, completing the fleet renewal.
The arrival of the new trains represents a concrete investment to provide a modern, inclusive, and sustainable service along the entire cross-border route.
Designed to meet the needs of a diverse passenger base, the new trains offer:
-
Dedicated family spaces, with areas for strollers and prams
-
Accessible services for passengers with reduced mobility
-
Bicycle transport, with space for up to 4 bikes per train
-
Increased seating capacity (from 109 to 142 seats per train)
-
Digital travel information, updated in real-time on board
The debut of the new trains was celebrated on June 21, 2025 with a highly successful inauguration event: a day of celebration shared with the public, the local community, and institutions, attended by over 600 people.
Ferrovia Vigezzina-Centovalli continues its commitment to providing an increasingly comfortable, connected, and inclusive travel experience.
