The Via del Mercato, formerly traveled by traders to reach Locarno, is one of many excursions to discover the Centovalli.
Until the construction of the carriage road (second half of the 1800s), the ancient mule track was the only connection of the upper Centovalli with the city.
Our advice
Travel by the Vigezzina-Centovalli Railway to the Camedo station. Follow the old mule track to Intragna, skirting many sights worth admiring. From here continue the journey by rail to Locarno.
