Santa Maria Maggiore, at an altitude of 831 metres, is the highest point of our railway. The little settlement is home to three very interesting museums concerned with local history and old traditions. These are the chimney sweep museum, la Casa del Profumo (the perfume house) and the art gallery of Scuola di Belle Arti Rossetti Valentini. It is a charming place with an enchanting village centre, a piazza and roads with colourful house facades. In Santa Maria Maggiore, various events take place over the course of the year, including the international gathering of chimney sweeps, Fuori di Zucca, which is a weekend festival all about pumpkins, and Christmas markets.
