The station has been in operation since 17 December 1990, at the same time as the opening of the underground section of the Vigezzina-Centovalli railway in the direction of the Locarno FFS station.
The station, equipped with a doubling track, is served by regional trains on the Locarno-Intragna/Camedo line and vice versa, as well as by a regional Domodossola/Re-Locarno FART train.
