Start of celebrations for 100 years of the Vigezzina-Centovalli Railway

On 5 May the IABMAS conference, in June the inaugurations of important exhibitions, tributes to the great masters of Vigezzo painting (and not only). From 16 June an exceptional temporary exhibition of the Treasure of Craveggia.

Two years to celebrate 100: this was how the rich programme of celebrations was presented to commemorate a journey, that of the Vigezzina-Centovalli Railway, which began on 25 November 1923, thanks to a common cross-border vision, as strong then as it is today.

Today the calendar of events and appointments designed to bring prestige to the history of this small Alpine railway, as well as to the traditions and excellence of the territories that the white and blue trains pass through every day, finally comes to life. Conferences, exhibitions, concerts, a very rich programme created thanks to a synergy between SSIF and the Unione Montana della Valle Vigezzo, as well as other local bodies, foundations and associations, and with the financial contribution received under the Interreg PAES.CH.IT project.

The Unione Montana delle Valle Vigezzo (Vigezzo Valley Mountain Union), in particular, immediately recognised this centenary as a major anniversary for the entire territory, to the point of capitalising on the aforementioned Interreg for this event, bringing the Vigezzina-Centovalli Railway into the project partnership.
