Palagnedra is located on a sunny, sweeping plateau at an altitude of 660 metres. The hamlet is around three kilometres above the station; it can be reached on foot in just under an hour. The harmonious clustering of the many rustico buildings and a few patrician houses is typical of Palagnedra. The latter are the historical legacy of the residents of the village who successfully sought their fortune abroad, particularly in Tuscany. In the heart of the village, the coat of arms of the Medici family can be seen on the balcony of the Casa Mazzi. From the village square you go up a simple but fairly steep trail to the mill at Niuum, the only one in the region which still has the complete wooden grinding mechanism inside. In Palagnedra you will also find one of the most interesting views on our railway route: the man-made reservoir and the power station dam. The road leading from the village to the reservoir is lined with impressive original iron sculptures by the artist Alain Garnier.
