Verdasio

Verdasio is part of the municipality of Centovalli and is located on a steep terraced slope at an altitude of 700 m. The architectural highlights include several mansions from the 17th century, built by emigrants who later returned to the small village. Steep steps connect the lower and upper parts of the village. The village is best admired from a distance: you can then see how the houses nestle together on the steep slope with the narrow alleyways winding between them. Below the village of Verdasio, the old bridle path takes you past a stone chapel, which forms a superb picture postcard panorama together with the historical buildings that surround it. The centre of Verdasio is connected to the Vigezzina-Centovalli railway station by an asphalt road of about 1.5 km and 200 metres in height difference (5 minutes by car / 20 minutes on foot).
