Via delle Vose follows the former bridle path of the farmers from Onsernone Valley, who used the trail to walk into the valley, to the harbour in Ascona and to the market at Locarno. The hike from Intragna to Loco runs via the hamlets of Pila, Vosa and Niva.
It starts at the parish church of Intragna and leads through terraced slopes with their drystone walls via one of the most attractive bridle paths in Ticino. In Niva, the historic grape press with its lever mechanism is still in operation today for the production of a very special organic wine. It is a pleasant route just over 7 km long with plenty of shade. You can complete it in about 3 hours (not counting the stops in between for visiting the many sights of interest).
A visit to the Museo Onsernonese is recommended. This is partly dedicated to straw weaving, which is a typical craft of the valley. It is also worth visiting the old mill, where the traditional maize flour farina bóna is milled from roasted maize. This is a speciality of the Onsernone Valley and it is a trendy slow food product nowadays.
