Travelling on the Ferrovia Vigezzina Centovalli is an experience to be recommended for passengers with reduced mobility too: enjoy the tranquillity and immerse yourself in the special atmosphere on our narrow-gauge railway, the idyllic countryside, and the colours of nature which change with the seasons.
Disabled persons or persons with reduced mobility – if not already announced by other carriers – must indicate on the appropriate form at the bottom of the page, at least 48 hours before the journey, which journeys they intend to use and on which routes.
Should SSIF fail to provide this information in writing, the assistance service will not be confirmed and therefore admission may not be guaranteed for the chosen journey. In the event of a lack of available seats SSIF will communicate availability on other rides.
Holders of the Blue Card or disability card ONLY are entitled to free admission.
In this case, the disabled person travels free of charge. Any guide dogs for the blind also travel free of charge.
Any locally-issued cards do not entitle the disabled person to travel free of charge.
The accompanying person must instead have a valid ticket.
If the disabled person is travelling unaccompanied, they must have a valid ticket.
When purchasing online, if the passenger is travelling in a WHEELCHAIR, he/she must select a paying adult only.
HE/SHE MUST THEN FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW, AT LEAST 48 HOURS BEFORE THE JOURNEY, TO REQUEST ASSISTANCE FROM THE ON-BOARD STAFF.
If the disabled passenger is seated in a normal seat, he/she will have to select 1 adult (for the accompanying person) and 1 child 0/6 in order to reserve his/her free seat for him/herself.
If he/she still requires boarding assistance, he/she must fill in the mail form 48 hours in advance.
In Switzerland, passengers with reduced mobility must hold a relevant ID card for travellers with a disability, and this must be shown upon request, in order to use the associated services. Passengers with reduced mobility may also bring their guide dog free of charge in 1st or 2nd class.
A person with reduced mobility travelling alone requires a valid train ticket.
Every Ferrovia Vigezzina-Centovalli train composition has a wheelchair space.
