Passengers with reduced mobility

Travelling on the Ferrovia Vigezzina Centovalli is an experience to be recommended for passengers with reduced mobility too: enjoy the tranquillity and immerse yourself in the special atmosphere on our narrow-gauge railway, the idyllic countryside, and the colours of nature which change with the seasons.

In Italy

People with disabilities or reduced mobility—if not already announced by other carriers—must indicate on the form at the bottom of the page, at least 24 hours before travel, which routes they intend to use and on which sections.

Holders of a Disability Card with the letter “A” on the front, indicating that the holder needs a companion or greater support, can travel free of charge with their companion.

Guide dogs for the blind also travel free of charge.

Locally issued cards do not entitle the holder to disability benefits.

If the disabled person is traveling unaccompanied, they must be in possession of a valid ticket.

HOW TO BOOK ONLINE:

  • in the case of a passenger in a WHEELCHAIR accompanied by an escort, select only 1 paying adult and fill out the form to request assistance.
  • In the case of an accompanied disabled passenger occupying a seat, select 1 adult and 1 child 0/6 in order to reserve a free seat for the accompanying person.
Please note that in order to request assistance, you must indicate on the form at the bottom of the page, at least 24 hours before the trip, which routes you intend to use and on which sections.

ATTENTION!!

After completing the form, you must wait for confirmation from SSIF, which will be sent within two working days.

If you do not receive written confirmation from SSIF, the assistance service is not confirmed and therefore the assistance service may not be guaranteed for the selected journey.

If there are no seats available, SSIF will inform you of availability on other journeys.

In Switzerland

In Switzerland, passengers with reduced mobility must hold a relevant ID card for travellers with a disability, and this must be shown upon request, in order to use the associated services. Passengers with reduced mobility may also bring their guide dog free of charge in 1st or 2nd class.

A person with reduced mobility travelling alone requires a valid train ticket.
