Sacro Monte Calvario

The journey to Sacro Monte Calvario begins at the crossroads leading up to the hill through a forest of beeches and chestnuts, and runs past the many chapels which blend harmoniously into the countryside.

Arriving at the top, you sense the spirituality and charm of this site in all its glory, together with the breathtaking view of the surrounding plains.

In the fifteen chapels of Sacro Monte Calvario (twelve outside and three inside the pilgrimage church), you can admire terracotta statues as well as paintings by a variety of artists, including Dioniso Bussola, Giulio Gualio, Carlo Mellerio and Giovanni Sanpietro.
