Drawing the Territory - illustration festival

From 27 April 2024 to 26 May 2024

The fourth edition of the Di-Se illustration festival in Domodossola is coming up, from Saturday 27 April to Sunday 26 May.

The event confirms itself as one of the most anticipated and original on the national scene: born in 2021 as part of the Interreg Italy-Switzerland project "Di-Se – DiSegnare il territorio", the Domodossola festival is a young festival that continues to weave a valuable and lively network of artists and creatives around the theme of drawing and illustration. Through art exhibitions, group and monographs, meetings, workshops, live painting and talks, he continues to bring to the north of Piedmont, in the province of Verbania, some of the most interesting and well-known names linked to the world of art. What is about to come is the first part of a larger programme that will continue in November with an exhibition by Hugo Pratt in dialogue with Nicola Magrin.

At the heart of the event are the historic and majestic spaces of the Collegio Mellerio Rosmini in Domodossola that continue to dialogue with the works on display. Saturday, April 27 at 17 hours opens Elektricon. Portaluppi in Ossola by Gianluca Folì, monographic exhibition revolving around the figure of the architect Piero Portaluppi as designer of the power stations of the Antigorio-Formazza valley. Gianluca Folì is a leading artist in the Italian illustration scene, art-director of the prestigious Epson calendar. For the occasion, Folì has created a series of five large plates based on some sketches made during his first visit to the Ossola valleys. Also on display are the preparatory drawings: an opportunity to get to the heart of the artist's working technique, from the initial sketch to the final plate. The exhibition is completed by a collection of photographs following the construction and use of the power stations, accompanied by books and period memorabilia. It also illustrates the incredible architectural, historical and artistic value of the Ossola hydroelectric power stations, the result of the ingenuity of one of the most interesting architects of the last century.
