There are no market stands to be found on the Via del Mercato, but instead, you will encounter an ancient bridle path, streams, forests, mills and breathtaking views.
The Via del Mercato was a mule path used by farmers to take their products to Locarno. Today, it is one of the many options for exploring Centovalli.
Up to the time when the carriage road was built in the second half of the 19th century, the old bridle path was the only connection between the upper Centovalli and the town.
The varied hike amidst a natural setting begins in Camedo and leads through Borgnone, Lionza, the mill park, Verdasio, Slögna and Calezzo.
It ends in Intragna where you can board our trains once again.
The indicated duration includes the journey by train.
