Also in 2024, from 12 October to 17 November, the Foliage Train® returns!
In autumn, the route of our railway becomes a multicoloured picture, with the woods tinged with all shades of red, yellow and orange. A spectacle of nature, to be experienced while travelling on our trains, through forests and wild valleys.
Every day the trains connecting the two terminuses, Domodossola and Locarno, cross a breathtaking landscape along a 52 km route, with spectacular views and panoramic views inflamed by autumn colours.
Information
- Children and young people aged 6 to 16 pay half; under 6 travel for free if they do not occupy a seat
- The ticket is valid for one or two days and includes a return journey on the entire line, just under two hours each way, with the possibility of making only one stop in between
- Due to the forecast of heavy traffic it is compulsory to reserve seats.
- The journey can start at your own choice, from one of the two terminals, the Piedmontese Domodossola or the Ticino Locarno.
- At the moment, there are already many group bookings organised for all weekends between 14 October and 11 November, so we advise you to travel on weekdays and take advantage of the discounted ticket.
- For travellers arriving from Lombardy, it is advisable to take the Vigezzina-Centovalli Railway from the Swiss terminal of Locarno, whose station is easily reached by the direct train TILO RE80 that connects Milano Centrale daily to Locarno.

Tickets for the cable cars can be purchased directly at the departure station or at the ticket office in Locarno. Combined tickets on sale online are available only for departures from Locarno and cannot be combined with the Foliage Train.
