The Museums of Santa Maria Maggiore

  • Duration:
    8 hours
  • When:
    All the year

Three must-see stops at Santa Maria Maggiore! The Chimney Sweep Museum offers an interactive and multisensory itinerary and a permanent exhibition of objects, work tools, clothes and images and collects the gifts that the chimney sweeps, coming from all over the world, bring to the annual gathering, which usually takes place on the first weekend of September.

The Casa del Profumo is a small and charming museum that traces the history of Eau de Cologne, invented by Giovanni Paolo Feminis from Vigezzo. The museum offers a multimedia path among perfumes, aromas, herbs, essences and sensory installations. A place where perfume joins history.

The Pinacoteca della Scuola di Belle Arti Rossetti Valentini, located in the historic centre of Santa Maria Maggiore, exhibits the works of artists from the mid-eighteenth century to the end of the twentieth century. Among them are paintings by Giacomo Rossetti, Enrico Cavalli and Carlo Fornara.
