Trontano, Parpinasca and Valgrande

This is an interesting hike for getting to know the history, countryside and rural customs of the region. The route is divided into three stages.

The first one runs through superb chestnut groves leading from Trontano to the Parpinasca lodge, where an initial overnight stay is recommended.

On the second leg, you hike right through the primeval countryside of the Val Grande national park.

And on the third and final stage, you arrive at the alpine meadows of Trontano and pass through the mill park of the Rio Graglia. You then return to the old Via del Mercato.

The indicated duration includes the journey by train.
